That could be fixed just by adding a bit more complexity to existing units though, like letting skirmishers set their javelins on fire, or additional formations like a wedge formation for the horses, putting explosives on your scorpions. The four unit types are great, but there isn't much diversity. Control over the units could be improved, I never feel like I can line up my legions if I accidentally mess up the initial formation on the battle map while deploying. For some reason some of my units got stuck trying to kill an Asterix-looking character, I think it has something to do with the horse. The game is relatively short, but for the price of a burger that's pretty fair. I've had one or two bugs during my short playthrough. This isn't a negative review with a "yes" this is a "You should buy this game and play it" with some feedback for the developer. Oh, and Germanic cavalry is cheaper to recruit than Roman cav. Good to know! If that bothers you, you can still lose the game if all your other provinces are taken (*cough* *cough* Provincia) The game doesn't make this obvious I think but your "homeland" province in Northern Italy can't be invaded. Nothing sophisticated but feels more gritty and fun than the AI in vanilla Rome Total War. Knowing when to split your armies to take more territory that turn or converge on a large enemy army. Just don't overextend yourself! Managing your advance, troop reinforcements and responding to enemy map deployments is basically the other half of what's fun in this game. Better learn how to use those pila throws and time your charges! The better victories you can get, the better chance you have of pressing that advantage on the campaign map. The enjoyment factor, besides the charming immersion, comes from trying to minimize your losses in all the constant, quick and frantic battles. Some annoying bugs though, such as assigning your units into numbered groups during the battles will break the visuals once you use those key shortcuts.
